The Role of the Oil and Gas Sector in Achieving the SDGs
The activity entitled Preparation and Planning of a Voluntary Environmental Audit on the Utilization of State Property in the Form of Assets of the Badak LNG Plant was held at the State Finance Building on 29 November-1 December 2021. This activity was carried out for 3 days organized by the State Asset Management Institute.
Compliance with regulations related to the environment is needed as an effort to mitigate the risk of significant environmental impacts on the community. This is in line with the government’s program, namely the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which have an important role in Indonesia’s future development plans as regulated in Presidential Regulation Number 59 of 2017 concerning the Implementation of Achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
Significant environmental impacts are mostly caused by high-risk business activities, one of which is the business activity sector in the Oil and Gas sector. This activity is supported by the utilization of energy infrastructure which is State Property, ex-termination of principal and derivative agreements in the oil and gas sector, one of which is LMAN’s managed assets in the form of assets of the Badak LNG Plant.
In addition, the 2 objectives of this activity are to conduct a baseline assessment of environmental and technical environmental conditions in the Badak LNG Plant Asset area, so as to provide certainty of environmental responsibility for each utilization partner who has just joined in the area and determine the limits of environmental responsibility in the area. the Badak LNG Plant Asset area between the Ministry of Finance. Not only that, this activity also discussed preparation and planning to support sustainable development, understanding AMDAL as the basis for determining responsibilities and carrying out audit activities to be effective.
In this activity, Prof. This Zuzy delivered material related to the understanding of SDGs and SDGs in the oil and gas sector. In the material, Prof. Zuzy also discussed the progress of the SDGs over the past 5 years, Indonesia’s ranking in the Global SDGs, existing achievements and the role of the Oil and Gas industry in achieving the SDGs. The efforts made by the Oil and Gas industry to support the achievement of the SDGs are also discussed in this activity, it is hoped that with the delivery of these materials the SDGs goals can be achieved slowly.
